"We were able to experience a very authentic Isle of Skye experience in Donna's house. The house stands alone in the wilderness, a beautiful quiet river goes around the house and in the pasture graze the sheep. The view from the living room is breathtakingly beautiful and very big cinema at sunrise and sunset. A huge kitchen, very comfortable upholstery in the living room, nice bedrooms, several bathrooms - you can not ask for more. Everything sparkling clean and tidy - that was definitely an experience which we remember for a long time. Donna responded to all our questions very quickly and helpfully. We warmly recommend this house to all travelers." Daniel Von Känel. May 2018.

"Donna's cottage is clean, lovely, and was a great place to set up base for our time on Skye. The location was great for what we were interested in doing. It's quite close to the Quiraing, Old Man of Storr, and other hiking locales, as well as Portree and the Talisker distillery. The cottage is spacious and kitchen very well stocked if you want to cook. Shower had great water pressure and no problem staying hot. Donna gave clear instructions for check in and made everything very easy. It's located in a lovely little community north of Portree and a neighbor passing by was extremely helpful when we had some car trouble on the way there on day. We would definitely stay again if we're ever able to make it back to Skye!" Cornelius Bouknight. March 2018.

"A fabulous stay at the Trotternish Ridge Cottage with breathtaking views of sweeping grasslands dotted with sheep and the mountain ridges beyond. The pictures don't begin to do it justice. What's more, the home is nearby two of the best hikes on Skye -- the Quiraing trails (an absolute must) and the Old Man of Storr. The rooms and beds were comfortable, and the large kitchen was perfect for home-cooked meals (though we did take Donna's advice and grab a bite at Skye Pie Cafe nearby, also highly recommended!) If you're looking for a good spot to take in the beauty of magical Skye, you won't find a better location. I only hope we can make it back sometime." Michael Zakaras. June 2017.

"We stayed at Donna’s cottage for a few nights and it was fantastic! The cottage had three bedrooms and was very spacious for us. It was also great that there were two full bathrooms with tub & shower and a fully stocked kitchen (with all the kitchenware needed to cook a full meal!). The cottage was exceptionally clean and tidy too. It is exactly as the photos appears. There are large windows in the living space that allowed for amazing views and despite having that many windows, the cottage warmed up very quickly and stayed warm! There is also a full laundry room with everything you need for an extended stay in Skye. We cannot say enough about this wonderful space. You’ll definitely need a car to get around this area, however you can walk along the road/river near the cottage. It is almost definite that you will run into some sheep or cows as you come/leave the cottage to connect to other parts of Skye. It made for interesting mornings leaving the cottage :) Communication with Donna was excellent and she responded to any enquires within a couple hours. She also provided great recommendations for things to do as well as places to visit in the surrounding area. Her directions to/from the cottage was very clear and helpful as we were arriving late at night (the self-check in made that even easier!). We really enjoyed our stay in Donna’s lovely cottage and would highly recommend it to couples or groups of friends looking for a place to stay in Skye." Janet Dang. April 2017.

"Superb facilities with amazing views. Stayed with my 2 adult daughters as their introduction to Scotland. TRV didn't disappoint and while the weather was mixed, we always had a cosy place to return to for a hot shower, brilliant cooking facilities and that wonderful view of the Skye landscape! We're missing our sheep and geese neighbours already and will hopefully return to this peaceful and pretty corner of Skye one day. Thanks very much for all our good memories, Norman!" Gill Price. August 2016.

"We spent two weeks in Trotternish Ridge View with our London-based son, daughter-in-law and their two little sons. We could not have chosen a better place. Everything was there, there was enough room to not be in each other's way, it was a lovely place to stay, clean, comfortable and the views were just magnificent! It changed every day, sometimes the mountains were completely gone, other times we saw a wonderful misty landscape. We were lucky with one full really warm and sunny week! But even rain (it never rains hard though, we in Australia know real rain!) We explored much of the island and there is still so much to see and do! Pity Australia is that far away ... no complaints from us in any way, only a BIG thank you!" Carla de Jong. June 2016.

"We have just had 2 fantastic weeks on the Isle of Skye made even better by staying at Trotternish Ridge View Cottage. The house is very clean, modern and very very roomy!! It has great views from the almost totally glassed fronted sitting room windows out across to the ridge. We were lucky enough to have numerous Buzzard sightings from the comfort of our reclining leather seats...not lucky enough to see golden eagles from the house but we did see them from the Quiraing which is just a couple of minutes from the house. Although a bit boggy, there is a good walk along the river that passes close to the house that will lead you to the ridge and a few small waterfalls and even a few scattered pieces from a bomber that crashed into the ridge. You open the curtains early morning to see what the weather is like up at the Quiraing and the Storr and decide if it's a walk or close the curtains and get back into bed. Just a great location and a great house. We would definitely stay here again (only a short drive to Glenview Hotel and Skye Pie Cafe)." Clive Hannah. April 2016.

"The cottage is large, clean and modern with spectacular views of Trotternish Ridge. It is very quiet and relaxing. The cottage has good internet and good kitchen with utility room and laundry facilities. It is very quiet and isolated we loved sitting looking out the full length windows very comfortable, modern, spacious and exceptionally well furnished and equipped with modern appliances and lots of extra touches. The location, it is down a single track road with sheep and cows for neighbours. The location of the house is perfect with beautiful views all around so peaceful yet not too far from shops etc. We will be back." Gillian Belshaw. April 2016.

"Totally awesome place to stay!!! This was my first stay at Trotternish Ridge View, so I did not know what to expect. Let's just say that my expectations were exceeded in every way. Such a delightful place to stay, so comfortable, peaceful and quiet. The leather sofas were great, and so were the beds, which you just sink into. The kitchen was very high spec, and I was impressed with the facilities. As for the location, it is down a single track road in a hamlet with 8 properties I believe. The view from the lounge is awesome. Although there are neighbouring properties, you cannot see them or hear them. I was hoping for a peaceful break, and this place delivered it and more. Perfect location for walkers, and the owners provide a few excellent suggestions for walks. I visited the Quiraing, Fairy Glen, Fairy Pools, and the Diatomite Railway walk. Even the walk down the single track road was beautiful, with the view of the Trotternish Ridge. I cannot reccommend this place highly enough!!!" Jason Brown. October 2015.

"Lovely fresh and airy cottage. Faultless. Owners are approachable and helpful. Loved our stay and did not want to leave." Mandy Carty. April 2014.

"Splendid holiday home with stunning views. The location of the house is perfect for giving a feeling of privacy and quietness with beautiful views all around, whilst being just a short and convenient drive from a local shop and fuel station in Staffin. We found the house itself to be of a very high standard; clean and welcoming (thanks for the biscuits!), well decorated and superbly equipped with everything needed for a week of family self-catering. The house was a great base for my son's fossil-finding mission - the trip to Skye was his 12th birthday present! We visited a few different beaches within a 20 mile radius of the house and found numerous fossils. He returned home very happy (and pretty exhausted) with his new fossil collection. We found that whilst Staffin bay is easily accessed at low tide to find the dinosaur footprint left in the rock bed, many other beaches are very difficult to access with parking a good distance from the beaches, no toilets for miles and often steep or long uneven paths to follow. Fossil hunting on Skye it seems is not for the faint-hearted! :) We visited the Staffin museum (phone to arrange an appointment) and enjoyed seeing the large collection of fossils there - huge ammonites, belemnites, dinosaur bones and footprints as well as other interesting finds that tell of human history on Skye. We also enjoyed the Misty Isle boat trip from Elgol to Loch Coruisk. Joel got to steer the boat for a little while and we got great photos of the seals and scenery. I would also recommend a drive to Glen Brittle and the walk to the Fairy Pools for waterfalls and aqua pools in a magnificent landscape." Hayley Keane. April 2014.

"Most beautiful place and surroundings! The house is great. It was very clean, we found everything we needed. Wonderful garden, great view. Great for walks, we explored the surroundings and enjoyed nature. Just gorgeous, hope to come back!!!" Brigitte Dannecker. October 2013.

"A great get-away from it all in modern, clean, accommodation. Trotternish Ridge View is a beautifully kept, clean & modern cottage 3 miles from Staffin and very handy for the Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Portree & Uig. It has 3 bedrooms (2 double & a single) and would be well suited for 2 couples. The kitchen has all the usual and the lounge looks out onto the Trotternish Ridge with an uninterrupted view. It has a modern feel with lovely wooden floors (carpet in the bedrooms), free Wi-Fi, docking station etc. As my husband has difficulty walking, I can recommend it for anyone with a slight disability. The rooms are all on one level with plenty of space to move around and a ramp out to the back door. I wouldn't recommend it for a wheelchair user because the drive is made up of stones & not very easy to walk on. It is situated very near to my favourite cafe on Skye which is the Ellishadder Art Cafe (definitely worth a visit and they do take aways if requested)." Shirley Taylor. September 2013.

"A most enjoyable week, the cottage was everything we could have wished for, warm and welcoming, with the addition of comfort and a beautiful view of the Trotternish Ridge. We were sorry to leave and hope someday to repeat the experience." Jacqueline Samaras. August 2013.

"Marvellous. This is a beautiful, extremely well appointed house, with superb views towards the Trotternish Ridge. It is very spacious and beautifully finished. The big kitchen is well equipped - even to the carton of milk and packet of biscuits waiting for us, a very nice welcoming touch. Very clean, so much so when you walk in you feel as though you are the first visitors! It is very comfortable and peaceful. Only things we heard were the birds and the sheep. Marishadder is a little crofting hamlet of about 8 to 10 houses about 2 miles along a single track road from Staffin where there are a couple of little shops and eating places. The house is so convenient for exploring The Quiraing and the whole of the northernmost part of beautiful Trotternish. We had a wonderful holiday thanks in no small part to this superb house, we enjoyed it so much we managed to extend our stay by a few days, we really didn't want to leave! Places we visited and enjoyed (apart from the wonderful walking) were Columba 1400, a small and a cosy tea house, Ellishadder Art Cafe and Museum of Island Life at Flora MacDonald's grave." Irene Fleming. June 2013.

"Fantastic property and location. A perfect place to stay if you like peace and quiet. Ideal for many of the attractions in the area. We have stayed in many villas/cottages and I must say this is by far the cleanest one we have ever had. Very well equipped, comfortable beds, outstanding views, spacious, nice big showers...just perfect. If you enjoy walking as we do then the area is perfect for this too. We would highly recommend this cottage." Neil and Julie Frost. May 2013.

"Excellent. Modern, clean, comfortable house with large rooms. The photos on the official website do not do this house justice (so I have added some better ones to the FlipKey review). Fantastic views from the lounge, good base for Storr and Quiraing. Would highly recommend." Rustille. May 2013.

"Excellent property in an enviable location. The cottage was immaculate and extremely spacious, with excellent accessibility. The location is superb with easy access to mountains, coast, local amenities and some wonderful tea shops! Pleasant and efficient dealings with the owner. Highly likely to visit again." Catherine Beddison. April 2013.

"Fabulous location, great cottage, perfect getaway if you're city based. Cannot be faulted. If you install a hot tub I'll be back every year!" David Nately. December 2012.

"We, a family of 5 adults, had a fantastic week at this beautiful cottage 10/17 October 2012. The cottage is located in a tranquil area and is very comfortable, modern, spacious and exceptionally well furnished and equipped with modern appliances. The owners are to be commended for the high standards set. The views from the cottage, especially of the Ridge, are amazing and ever changing. There are wonderful views from every window. If you are a walker, hiker or climber or just like quiet scenic drives in the countryside with the availability of excellent cafés/restaurants then this the place to go. Cannot commend the cottage highly enough – perhaps like us you will find you won't want to leave." Bryan O'Donnell. October 2012.

"We found the cottage clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. The location was stunning and the surrounding area was everything we had hoped for. A superb holiday destination." Turnbull Family. September 2012.

"When we arrived at the cottage, there were fresh flowers on the table, there was milk in the fridge and there were some yammie cookies on the counter. How thoughtful. The cottage was spacious and very clean and tidy. The beds were made with beautiful linens. Our kids loved running around in the garden and the sheep around the cottage. The WiFi in the cottage worked very well and we loved the two large showers! The cottage is located in Staffin, a very small village, but the local shop has all the basics you need. We went out for dinner at the Kilmartin restaurant and had a good meal. We also went to the Cafe Columba 1400 and that was very nice as well. A great stay!" Sietse and Nicole de Winter. August 2012.

"We had a great time on Skye and the cottage was perfect in every aspect. Thanks for providing all the essential supplies like tea, milk etc - these were much appreciated! The cottage was very well presented and was in 'show home' condition and we would definitely consider staying there again next year (this was our second visit to Skye). Location was perfect for us and the view of the ridge was truly outstanding. The free wifi ensured my 2 teenage kids didn't lose touch with their friends online." Peter Smillie. July 2012.

"The accommodation was immaculately presented to a high standard (have stayed in similar for a lot more cost), has every mod-con and is fitted out to a high spec for your own comfort and enjoyment. Our stay was first time in this area and would not hesitate to return. Ideally located to see all the island and is close enough to travel only 10-15 minutes for stunning sunsets. Also spectacular views of rolling hills and countryside from the house itself." Alan Edge. July 2012.

"Trotternish Ridge exceeded all our hopes, we were thrilled to find such a well cared for property inside and out. The accommodation was spacious, modern, very well equipped and most importantly spotlessly clean. The location is excellent, very peaceful with ever changing views from the large windows in the lounge. Ideally suited for touring the Island, even when the weather is not so good, happy to stay indoors reading in a great cottage. Would recommend this fabulous cottage to anyone, hope to return if not booked." Jeff & Anne Reynolds. June 2012.

"The cottage is clean and modern with spectacular views of Trotternish Ridge. It is very quiet and relaxing. The cottage has internet and good kitchen with utility room and good laundry facilities. Our second stay here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Visit nearby Kilt Rock or travel north to beautiful views of the other islands. Skye is a not to be missed destination." J Salvidge. September 2011.

"We had a wonderful, relaxing break at Trotternish Ridge. The cottage was immaculately presented, with beautiful scenery all around (and some very friendly sheep and cows!). This was our first stay on Skye, but will definitely not be our last." Janice Anderson. August 2011.

"This is the third time we have returned to Trotternish Ridge and it is the third time we have loved our stay. The cottage is immaculate and very tastefully decorated. The master bedroom has an en suite with double sized shower - power one at that - just what is needed after a day in the hills. Talking of the hills, this cottage is the perfect base for the Quiraing and Storr and only 45 mins from the Cuillins. It is very quiet and isolated- perhaps too much for some but for us it is perfect, sitting looking out the full length windows to the trotternish ridge and marvelling at the changing face of the crags with the every changing light. The ridge never looks twice the same. This is a cottage I will never tire of visiting!" Fiona Ballie. July 2011.

"We found the accommodation very comfortable, clean, spacious, well-appointed and enjoying splendid views of the awe inspiring Trotternish Ridge. We thought that the cottage was ideal for our family with plenty of room for us all, very good facilities and even lots of games for the kids. I would not hesitate to recommend it to a group of friends for a holiday well off the beaten track but surrounded by a stunningly beautiful landscape which is great to walk through." Chris Luke. June 2011.

"An absolutely excellent place to stay with breath-taking views from the living room which really gives you a taster of what Skye is like. Accommodation is to a very high standard in a prime location. Excellent, and thank you for a great time in Skye all made by the quality of the accommodation and views. We look forward to booking next year." Simon & Kay Warren. May 2011.

"My husband and I had a wonderful time while staying at the cottage. It's a real home from home with everything you need within. I loved the rooms as they are well appionted and the views out of this world. I would highly recommend this cottage or should I say large modern house to anyone wishing a peaceful holiday while on Skye." Janice & Brian Walker. April 2011.
